Conference

The conference will cover the main topics related to Trichinella and trichinellosis:

Phylogeny, taxonomy, and biology of Trichinella genus.

This topic refers to the history and relationships among Trichinella species and related nematodes, the systematic of the genus, morphology and structure of the parasites and their biological cycle. Papers that fit into these topics will be accepted and presented. Proposed subsections are:

- New data about the phylogeny of the genus Trichinella

- New insights in the systematic of Trichinella genus

- Actualities about morphology and structure of Trichinella species

Epidemiology of human and animal infection.

This topic involves researches regarding new patterns of infection, sources of parasites for humans, the resistance of Trichinella spp. in different environmental and artificial conditions, the prevalence of infection in different hosts and the spreading of parasites in new geographic areas.

- Epidemiology of Trichinella spp. in animals (prevalence in domestic animals and wildlife, new species involved in natural cycle of parasites, regional outbreaks)

- Epidemiology of Trichinella spp. in humans (regional prevalence, risk factors involved in the evolution of human infection, regional outbreaks)

Genomics and proteomics.

This section will contain papers referring to the proteomic analysis of Trichinella species, antigens of different life stages of Trichinella spp. and  antibody secretion induced by these stages.

- Antigens and molecules of Trichinella spp.

- Studies of Trichinella's genome

Pathogenesis and immunology.

The way how Trichinella species exerts their pathogenic actions on the hosts and their immune reactivity are the subject of this section.

- Host-pathogen interactions

- Inflammation caused by Trichinella spp.

- Immunocompetent cells and immunology issues

Detection.

- Serology

- New detection techniques

- Comparative effectiveness of Trichinella spp detection methods.

Human trichinellosis.

- Human outbreaks

- Regional and national prevalence

- Clinical and lesional aspects

- Treatment

Legislation and control.

- Control measures in different geographical regions

- Regional quantitative risk analysis models

- Trichinellosis and pork production

Anniversary celebration of ICT.
